Bangkok, Thailand — The FIVB Coaches Course Level 2 officially got underway at the FIVB International Center of Excellence in Thailand on Monday, bringing together 45 coaches — 13 women and 32 men — from 10 National Federations for five days of intensive learning, knowledge exchange and professional development.

The participating National Federations are Australia, India, Japan, Macau China, Maldives, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, highlighting the course’s role as a valuable platform for strengthening coaching expertise and fostering greater collaboration across the volleyball community.

Jointly held by the FIVB, in collaboration with the Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA) and the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), the course is being conducted under the guidance of FIVB Instructor Mr G.E. Sridharan of India and FIVB Assistant Instructor Mr Weeramate Pherngsongkro of Thailand.

The five-day programme is designed to advance coaches’ technical and tactical knowledge while providing a deeper understanding of modern volleyball coaching. Participants will strengthen their skills in game analysis, training programme design, individual and team development, performance evaluation and decision-making, while also exploring key areas such as communication, leadership, teamwork and creating an effective training environment.

Beyond the classroom and court, the course provides an opportunity for coaches from different volleyball cultures to exchange ideas, share practical experiences and discover new approaches to athlete development. The knowledge and skills gained are expected to benefit not only the coaches themselves, but also the players, clubs and national teams they serve, helping to raise coaching standards and contribute to the long-term development of volleyball in their respective countries.

The Opening Ceremony was held on Monday, October 5 at the FIVB International Center of Excellence in Thailand, with Mr Somporn Chaibangyang, President of the Thailand Volleyball Association, and Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, TVA Honorary Life Secretary General, jointly presiding over the ceremony.

Also attending as Guests of Honor were Mr Songsak Chareonpong, Chairman of the TVA Referee Committee; Mr Issara Riddhisinha, General Manager of the FIVB International Center of Excellence in Thailand; FIVB Instructor Mr G.E. Sridharan; and FIVB Assistant Instructor Mr Weeramate Pherngsongkro.

In his opening remarks, Mr Somporn expressed his appreciation to all Guests of Honor, instructors, officials and participants for contributing to the important occasion and warmly welcomed all coaches to Bangkok.

“It is my great pleasure and privilege to warmly welcome all participants to Bangkok for this course,” said the TVA President.

He highlighted the expertise of the instructors and the unique opportunity the course provides for coaches from different federations to learn from experienced professionals while exchanging knowledge and perspectives with their peers.

“With coaches representing 10 different federations, the course provides a unique setting for cross-border learning and professional networking. Every participant brings different experiences, coaching philosophies and challenges from their respective volleyball environments. By sharing these experiences, participants can learn from one another, discover new approaches and build relationships that can continue well beyond the five-day programme,” Mr Somporn said.

He also reaffirmed TVA’s commitment, together with the FIVB International Center of Excellence in Thailand and the Ramkhamhaeng University Sports Office, to providing the participants with the best possible support and hospitality throughout their stay in Bangkok.

“We hope that everyone will feel at home, enjoy the learning experience and make the most of this valuable opportunity,” he added.

“With great pleasure, I hereby declare the FIVB Coaches Course Level 2 officially open,” the TVA President concluded.
