Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayUtah Jazz big man Kyle Filipowski had offseason surgery to fix a herniated disc in his back. That has Filipowski still working on his own off-court instead of joining the Jazz for team practices. That runs counter to Utah's president of basketball operations Austin Ainge's previous comments that Filipowski would be cleared to take part in training camp.
Jazz head coach Will Hardy recently said that Filipowski is moving forward in his rehab, despite not doing on-court work yet.
"He's progressing well," Hardy said about Filipowski's status. "(We're) hopeful that he's back with us soon. I know 'soon' is an arbitrary word, but he's going through all the necessary steps to get back on the court.
"I know he's very antsy to get back. It's been a long summer of rehab, and the hope is that he'll be back out there soon."
For his part, Filipowski said he's feeling better than he was at the end of last season.
"I'm back to normal and better than where I was last year," Filipowski said at media day. "The time to do the surgery was after the season, and I've been working hard all summer to get back and better."
