The Orlando Magic have agreed to a deal with Malaki Branham, according to Michael Scotto. The 23-year-old guard joins Orlando after four NBA seasons split between the San Antonio Spurs and Washington Wizards.

Branham was selected with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and has appeared in 216 regular-season games, including 61 starts. He owns career averages of 8.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 17.8 minutes per game while shooting 44.1% from the field and 33.9% from three-point range.

His most productive NBA season came as a rookie in San Antonio, when he averaged 10.2 points in 66 games and made 32 starts. Branham followed with 9.2 points and 2.1 assists in 75 appearances in 2023-24, shooting 34.7% from beyond the arc.

His role declined over the next two seasons. Branham averaged 5.0 points in 47 games for the Spurs in 2024-25 before joining Washington, where he recorded 4.6 points in 28 appearances during the 2025-26 season.

The Magic’s deal gives Branham another opportunity to compete for a roster spot in a backcourt that already includes Desmond Bane, Jalen Suggs and Anthony Black. Orlando also has younger perimeter players such as Jase Richardson and Noah Penda, creating competition for minutes entering training camp.

Orlando finished 45-37 last season and lost to the Detroit Pistons in seven games in the first round of the playoffs after surrendering a 3-1 series lead. The organization subsequently fired head coach Jamahl Mosley and hired Sean Sweeney, a former Spurs assistant.

Branham’s connection to San Antonio is notable given Sweeney’s previous experience with the Spurs organization, although the new Magic coach was not on the staff during Branham’s four NBA seasons. Orlando has otherwise kept its core intact around Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Bane, Suggs and Black.

The Magic operated with limited financial flexibility during the offseason and used minimum-salary exceptions to retain Jevon Carter and Jonathan Isaac while bringing back Nikola Vucevic on a one-year minimum contract. Branham represents another low-cost addition as Orlando evaluates its depth following its third consecutive first-round playoff exit.
