New Los Angeles Lakers center Walker Kessler says he is determined to justify the organization’s major investment after signing a four-year contract worth nearly $130 million.

The Lakers not only committed more than $32 million annually to Kessler but also surrendered two first-round picks and two first-round pick swaps to acquire the young center.

“With what (the Lakers) have invested, they’re showing that belief, in a monetary value. Not just with money, but in (draft) assets,” Kessler said.

“If I know they have that belief in me, I’m going to run through a brick wall for them. That’s how I’ve been wired my whole life.”

Kessler also provided a positive update on his recovery from the shoulder surgery that ended his previous season, saying the injury is fully behind him.

He added that his shoulder feels “better than it’s ever felt in my life” and said he is excited about the opportunity to share the court with Luka Doncic, describing the experience as “a lot of fun.”

Kessler has played 4 seasons for the Jazz. He has averaged 9.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks in 201 regular-season games.
