VfB Suhl LOTTO Thüringen swept Dresdner SC 3-0 on October 3 to win the Supercup in Coburg, WorldofVolley reported. It is the club's first title in the event and the first silverware of the 2026-27 German season.

Suhl won 26-24, 29-27 and 25-23 in front of 2,000 spectators at the HUK-COBURG arena. Two points separated the teams in every set.

Dresden Lets Five Set Points Slip

Suhl pulled clear late in the opening set. Hannah Hartmann was a key presence at the service line and in attack as Suhl held off Dresden's closing push.

Dresden led the second set 17-11 and looked set to level the match. Suhl chipped away at the deficit, and Dresden failed to convert five set points before Lucia Herdova ended it at 29-27.

The third set followed a similar course. Dresden went up 11-8, but Suhl tightened its blocking and serving, and Hartmann helped pull the score level at 13-13. Emma Boyd put away the final point at 25-23.

Hartmann Named MVP

Hartmann took MVP honors with 14 points, built from eight kills, four aces and two blocks. Svea Naujack led Suhl with 15 points.

Boyd was the most efficient attacker, putting away nine of her 12 swings for a 75% kill rate.

Suhl finished with 47 attack points, seven blocks and six aces. Dresden had 42 attack points, five blocks and five aces. Suhl hit 42% as a team against Dresden's 39%, and converted 44% of its counterattacks to Dresden's 36%.

Champions Rebuilt After Departures

The win came about five months after Suhl claimed its first German championship in the Volleyball Bundesliga Frauen and also took the DVV-Pokal, dyn.sport reported. The Supercup was the first title match of the new season on Dyn Volleyball.

Suhl lost several key players after that double. One of them, Mackenzie Foley, joined Dresden over the summer and faced her former club in Coburg.

Coach Laszlo Hollosy told Dyn his team showed it can compete again this season. Dresden's loss came with five set points unused in the second set, the closest the runners-up came to pushing the match to a fourth.
