Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayTeased earlier this year through their Concept Labs program, Revel’s El Jefe Grande 32er is officially here. Based on the light, fast, XC-oriented 29″ El Jefe frame, the El Jefe Grande is a big-wheeled version that delivers the same idea. For more on this new 32er, read on below…
The Revel El Jefe Grande is a new 32-inch bike from the Colorado-based brand. Revel initially teased it through the experimental Concept Labs program in April of this year and has now formally launched it. The design is based on their existing 29″ El Jefe model, a light and fast 120mm hardtail. The El Jefe Grande takes the same idea and titanium construction and ports it over to the new, larger 32″ wheel size by completely reworking the geometry to handle the unique characteristics of the new wheels.
The El Jefe Grande features sliding dropouts with 17mm of adjustment, five sets of bottle mounts on every size, a 3D-printed head tube, and UDH compatibility. As stated, the bike is made from titanium, and the brand says it’s proud of the smooth transition from the 3D-printed elements to the tubes, both aesthetically and in performance. The 3D-printed elements are said to improve ride feel and make it easier to route the internal cables.
The frame is designed around a 100mm fork and comes in four sizes. Every size except the small has 32″ front and rear wheels, while the small uses a 29″ rear wheel. A size large frame has a claimed weight of 4.76 pounds, and the complete bike pictured here is 24.9 pounds. The rear spacing on the El Jefe Grande uses the boost standard and has a tire clearance of 32″ x 2.4″, with the small being 29″ x 2.6″, with plenty of room for mud. The bike uses a 73mm BSA threaded bottom bracket, can run a 34T max chainring, has 180mm rotors through the post-mount standard, and features a 31.6mm seatpost. Maximum insertion lengths range from 275mm on the small to 295mm on the XL.
